Hi an vanakam to all. Romario, former Brazil striker, has announced his retirement, ending a career in which he won the World Cup, was involved in numerous controversies and claimed to have scored more than 1,000 goals. I can still remember he was the man I watched in World Cup 1994.
The 42-year-old played for Brazil at the 1990 and 1994 World Cups, scoring five goals to help his nation win the latter tournament. He made 73 appearances for his country between 1987 and 2005, scoring 56 goals. He played for 9 clubs. Romario had four stints with Vasco da Gama, where he started and finished his career, and also played for Flamengo and Fluminense in Brazil, along with Barcelona, PSV Eindhoven and Valencia in Europe. The striker also had spells with Al Sadd in Qatar, Miami FC in the United States and Adelaide United in Australia.

He claimed to score 1000 goals in all games he played, this including the friendlies and youth matches. The dark part of his career is when he was sacked by Fluminense after being jeered off the field at the Maracana.
Watch Romario’s 1000th goal in his career. Do you think he is better than PELE? I think yes.
